Family help and sponsorships
Some of the poorest families in and around Iasi are sponsored with monthly food parcels, wood for winter heating, and improvements to their housing. Some have been rehoused in villages, others given polytunnels for food, and wells for water. Our Social Workers are in constant touch with them to monitor their well-being and help with any problems. Read more...

Kindergarten/Homework Club/Village community centres
The Roma children are neglected both by their parents and relatives, and by the Romanian society. They receive a very poor education. The parents are busy. The mother and older sisters are working in the household with the younger children and sisters, meanwhile the fathers are out in the surrounding villages with merchandise, to earn the income for the family. They don’t get any sort of welfare benefits. The only income they have is the child allowance, providing they have identification papers for them. We believe that by educating the people they will become financially independent and they will not involve in criminality.

This is an ongoing project, even during the holidays. We believe that the children need ongoing attention, education, involvement. They live in very bad areas, and because they do not have a playground or a decent yard to play, they would involve in gangs and later in criminality. That would be the way forward, because they would lack the education in order to become skilled people that could earn money honestly.

This venture provides a small building in a village with opportunities to hold a kindergarten, homework club, youth clubs, mothers’ groups, Bible Studies etc. Three buildings, in Erbiceni, Slobozia and Rediu, are complete and being used.

In Erbiceni we have an after-school centre where every day 14 children and teenagers come to do their homework under our teachers’ supervision. After doing the homework they have a playground where they can play, and there are computers and a dvd player to watch cartoons or movies. The teachers are also teaching various crafts such as sewing, knitting, woodwork. They also get a snack every day. Read more...

Work with the homeless and inmates
We are working with a big group of homeless, both girls and boys, and the inmates who used to be homeless. We give them food, clothes, take them to have showers in the charity's premises, and even teach them basic rules of respecting each other and the goods they have. If we get allocated funds for them, we can help them fix their teeth, buy eyeglasses, get a driving license etc. Read more...
